BAREFOOT IN THE PARK (1967) C widescreen 104m dir: Gene Saks
w/Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, Charles Boyer, Mildred Natwick, Herb Edelman, James F. Stone, Ted Hartley, Mabel Albertson, Fritz Feld
Neil Simon's smash Broadway hit survives the transfer to the big screen reasonably well. The story concerns a young couple with more ideas than money who set up housekeeping in New York City.
From The Movie Guide: "Laughs galore in early first screenplay by Simon, based on his Broadway success. Saks makes a fine impression in his first directorial stint, which features Redford and Fonda living in a small fifth-floor apartment in Greenwich Village. ... Redford and the Oscar-nominated Natwick, fresh from their Broadway triumph in the play, perform with the ease familiarity brings, and Fonda and Boyer also display the lightness of touch."
Natwick was nominated for a Supporting Actress Oscar.
