DANCE, GIRL, DANCE (1940) B/W 89m dir: Dorothy Arzner
w/Maureen O'Hara, Lucille Ball, Ralph Bellamy, Louis Hayward
Two girls are rivals in their careers and in love with the same man. This original screen story by Vicki Baum was actually directed by a woman for a major studio in the '40s (RKO)! Although the film is not a "great" one, it is especially interesting because of Ball, in one of her best "straight" performances, and for its ahead-of-its-time critique of the inherent sexism in the world of burlesque.
