There's plenty of director Fellini's visual brilliance in this intoxicating spectacle about the once-popular dance team. The plot has Ginger and Fred (Masina and Mastroianni) reuniting after thirty years to appear on a Rome TV talent show. Masina is touching as the naive, sentimental Amelia, who's unaware that her dance partner has fallen on hard times. The TV studio, with its circus-like atmosphere, functions as a stylized world of fantasy, complete with one of Fellini's favorite images: the ringmaster (Fabrizi).
