THE HILL (1965) B/W widescreen 124m dir: Sidney Lumet

w/Sean Connery, Harry Andrews, Michael Redgrave, Ian Bannen, Alfred Lynch, Ossie Davis

Director Lumet has etched a chilling study of a British military prison in Africa during WWII. The hitch here is that the inmates are British soldiers.

From Variety's review of the film: "Kenneth Hyman's production of The Hill is a tough, uncompromising look at the inside of a British military prison .... It is a harsh, sadistic and brutal entertainment, superbly acted and made without any concessions to officialdom."
