LOVE AND DEATH (1975) C widescreen 82m dir: Woody Allen

w/Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Harold Gould

One of the Woodman's funniest, most consistent films. He plays a bumbling, to put it mildly, Russian, trying to avoid the draft in the Napoleonic War. Keaton is the pretentious cousin he's loved from afar. Allen takes these dippy characters and parodies 19th century politics, philosophy, and war --- and makes it funny. Full of mocking visual references to every film ever made from a Russian novel, from THE BROTHERS KARAMOZOV to THE TWELVE CHAIRS. A treat.
