THE MATINEE IDOL (1928) B/W "silent" 60m dir: Frank Capra

w/Johnnie Walker, Bessie Love, Lionel Belmore

From the TCM Viewer's Guide: "Once thought to be lost, Frank Capra's howling comedy depicts a fictional Broadway star named Don Wilson, who tries to escape his adoring fans for one day. The film was recently found in a film lab in the south of France and has been digitally restored with a new music score. It makes its world television premiere on TCM." In his autobiography, Capra claims this is one of those early films that he made in only six weeks: " .. two weeks for writing, two for shooting, two for editing ... ."
