MONSIEUR HULOT'S HOLIDAY (1953) B/W 91m dir: Jacques Tati
w/Jacques Tati, Nathalie Pascaud, Michele Rolla, Valentine Camax
First film to feature director Tati's friendly, bumbling Hulot. This wonderfully comic, plotless movie about his vacation trip to the seashore features hilarious situations, gleaming camera work, brilliant sound, and a performance by Tati that is simple, pure, and gloriously cinematic. Though there is almost no dialogue (it's originally in French, of course), an English-dubbed print exists (with most of the dubbing done by Christopher Lee of horror fim fame!). TCM has not announced whether they will broadcast it subtitled or dubbed.
