From The Movie Guide: "THE MOUSE THAT ROARED is the outlandish, sidesplitting tale of the fortunes of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, a mythical land on the verge of bankruptcy because its one export, a fine wine, has been copied and undercut by a US company. Grand Fenwick's prime minister (Peter Sellers) and female monarch (Sellers again) cook up a scheme to solve the problem: they will declare war on the States, lose immediately, then get back in the black with all the aid that the US usually bestows upon its beaten foes. They send out an 'army' of 20, clad in armor and carrying bows and arrows, led by Tully Bascombe (Sellers once more). Of course, the arrival of these ragtag warriors in New York leads to a series of very funny situations, including the group's inadvertent acquisition of the 'Q-bomb,' a weapon that makes them a genuine threat. In the meantime, Bascombe meets and falls in love with Helen (Jean Seberg), the daughter of a scientist. Besides the wonderful Sellers, there are fine performances by all, especially Leo McKern as the pompous leader of Grand Fenwick's 'loyal opposition.' An inferior sequel, MOUSE ON THE MOON, was directed by Richard Lester."
