MY BODYGUARD (1980) C 97m dir: Tony Bill

w/Chris Makepeace, Adam Baldwin, Matt Dillon, Martin Mull, Ruth Gordon, Paul Quandt, Joan Cusack, Dean R. Miller, Tim Reyna, Richard Bradley, Denise Baske, Hank Salas, John Houseman, Craig Richard Nelson

From The Movie Guide: "This is essentially a tale of revenge, but not along the lines of some mindless vigilante movie; this is revenge with intelligence and sensitivity. Young Makepeace moves to Chicago with his motel manager father, Mull, and grandmother, Ruth Gordon (doing her wisecracking randy old lady bit). His new high school is ruled by Dillon, who extorts money ostensibly so they won't be pummeled by Baldwin, a huge, reclusive hulk whom everyone fears. Makepeace tries to befriend Baldwin and finds him to be a very troubled young man. This is a heartwarming film, superbly directed by ex-actor Tony Bill. Makepeace is excellent as the slight protagonist, and Baldwin is perfect as the brooding, misunderstood mammoth. Dave Grusin's score adds immeasurably to the tone."
