Soap opera made palatable by a good, all-star cast. Plot revolves around the events in the lives of four sisters living in New Zealand during WWII. Adapted from a story in James Michener's Tales of the South Pacific, which was also the source material for the musical SOUTH PACIFIC, but a darker view is on display here. And, besides, FilmFrog has a weakness for B/W widescreen movies.
