A doctor investigates the death of a wealthy philanthropist's sister, suspects foul play. David Thomson, in his Biographical Dictionary of Film, calls EXPERIMENT PERILOUS "... a first-class period thriller ... ." Thomson identifies Tourneur as "... an adroit director of action pictures with an exceptional visual sense ..." and comments on the director's "... imaginative use of light, decor, space, and movement ... ." Tourneur, of course, directed many B films for Val Lewton's production unit, including the much-praised CAT PEOPLE, I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, and THE LEOPARD MAN.
